Man Utd hold talks with Real Madrid over Paul Pogba swap deal – report

MANCHESTER UNITED have offered Paul Pogba to Real Madrid in a potential swap deal, according to reports in Spain.

Pogba’s future at Old Trafford is in doubt after recently being left out of Jose Mourinho’s starting XI for the Champions League draw at Valencia and Premier League win against Huddersfield.

It was reported earlier this week that the £89million midfielder was involved in a bust-up with Mourinho at the club’s training ground.

And now Don Balon claim United chiefs have been in touch with their Real Madrid counterparts in a bid to offload him.

According to the Spanish publication, they have asked for defender Raphael Varane in part-exchange for Pogba.

Mourinho brought Varane to the Bernabeu in 2012 during his spell in charge of Real Madrid.

He remains a big fan and has reportedly attempted to sign the France international since pitching up in Manchester.

Don Balon claim United will firm up their plan to dump Pogba if he fails to win Mourinho over before the end of the season.

Mourinho has warned Pogba he must win his trust after favouring academy product Scott McTominay in recent weeks.

''

“I don’t give trust for free,” the United boss said. “I don’t think it’s about the manager trusting the player, it is up to the player to make the manager trust him.

“Sometimes it looks like we have to give everything to the players and they give nothing back to us. But I don’t think that way.

“The confidence and trust I show towards Scott, he has earned it since day one, since he came to the first-team training sessions, step by step, with a lot to learn and a long way to go.”
