LIVERPOOL have reportedly opened negotiations with Roma to sign goalkeeper Alisson.
The Reds have have been crying out for a new shot stopper as Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius struggle to impress between the sticks.
According to Sky Italia, Liverpool have already approached the Italian outfit to try and take the Brazilian to Anfield.
The report states that Jurgen Klopp's side made an initial inquiry in January but failed to follow up their interest.
But the Merseyside outfit are now keen to get the deal done over the coming weeks to beat off the competition.
However, Roma value Alisson at €70 million (£62m) which would make him the most expensive goalkeeper of all time.
Sky Italia add that Liverpool want to compete the deal early to avoid a battle with Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, who will be looking to strengthen the same position in the summer.
Klopp did want to give his current crop a chance to show what they have got in the remainder of the season.
“Obviously since I’m in it feels like ‘wow’, if our goalkeeper makes a mistake it is a disaster,” Klopp said.
“If another goalkeeper makes a mistake he is still a fantastic goalkeeper and we should buy him.
“I am fine with our goalkeeper situation.”
However, his perception has now apparently changed as he hunts for a new keeper.
