Liverpool looking to sign Juventus’ Paulo Dybala – Reports

Liverpool are planning a massive swoop for Juventus' Paulo Dybala, according to reports in TuttoMercato. The reports claim that the Reds have contacted Dybala's former agent for an 'inside scoop' before formally beginning negotiations with the player himself.

Juventus are willing to offload the mercurial Argentine considering the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo.  In order to generate the funds, Dybala – along with Higuain – might be allowed to be move on.

Dybala is one of the most prolific attackers in world football today. He did not find much game tie under Jorge Sampaoli in the FIFA World Cup with Argentina – featuring in only one match off the bench and playing second fiddle to the likes of Messi and Di Maria. He, however, did have a stunning campaign with Juventus, helping them to the domestic double this past season.

Liverpool were initially interested in Nabil Fekir but talks broke down with Lyon and the Reds are unlikely to resume, forcing manager Jurgen Klopp to turn his attention elsewhere, in this case toward Dybala.

The 24-year-old netted 24 times in the Serie A this past season and is fast becoming one of the most lethal attackers in Europe and is considered by many to be heir-apparent of Lionel Messi in the Argentine national team.

Chelsea and Real Madrid are also reportedly interested in the youngster but Liverpool remain the firm favourites to bag his signature.

If Dybala does indeed make the move to Merseyside, it would be interesting to see where exactly he is deployed, with Mohamed Salah unlikely to be shifted from his wide position on the right – where he has had such astonishing success, smashing as many as 32 goals in the Premier League alone.

A more central role could be the order of the day, but that would mean dropping Firmino who is an integral part of Klopp's Gegenpressing system.

Liverpool have already completed the signings of Fabinho, Naby Keita and Xherdan Shaqiri and the arrival of Dybala would make them one of the favourites for the title. They have also been linked with the likes of Bernard and Harry Maguire as Klopp looks to finally build a team that can challenge on multiple fronts.
