Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino comes to the rescue of two baby boys in desperate need of medical attention

Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino is a gem of a player on the pitch with his runs across channels, finishing abilities and work rate showing us all the immense talent he possesses. And off the field, he is a gem as well.

A fan favourite amongst the Liverpool faithful, the Brazilian came to the rescue of two babies who needed urgent medical attention. According to Globo, along with his wife Larissa Pereira, the forward donated €65,000 for the medical bills of the two baby brothers who were suffering from spinal muscular atrophy.

The family had spread the word regarding their financial curtailments on social media, before the striker and his wife reached out for help. Apparently, they required medicines that needed to be imported from the United States of America.

Firmino, though, refused to speak about his philanthropic act. When asked on the incident, Firmino refused to comment.

His wife, however, offered sympathy to the family and appreciated her husband while speaking to Globo.

“We are moved by stories like this. We are also parents and imagine the pain that this family was going through,” she commented. “Roberto is a sensational person, had this noble attitude and helped save two children. The most beautiful thing is that he does it without wanting anything in return. It’s from the heart. May it inspire and touch other people.”

“There are many good people, who think about their neighbours and can help in some way. It is a pity and unacceptable, that our country does not provide these medicines, not pay for such treatments to save lives. Very sad,” she added.

The focus on Firmino and his actions will get move to things he does on the field this weekend as Liverpool begin their season at home to West Ham United on Sunday.

Whether he finds the net or not, we have only thing to say heading into the new Premier League season. “Take a bow, Bobby Firmino!”
