Lionel Messi puts forth three conditions to play for Argentina

Lionel Messi has finally opened the lid on his Argentina future, stating that he would continue to represent his national side if three of his conditions are met by the Argentina Football Association according to the Argentine newspaper Clarin.

Messi’s Argentina side scraped through the group stages and entered the knockouts courtesy of their only of the tournament against Nigeria in the last game of the group stages. Their miserable campaign ended when they were sent packing in the Round of 16 by the eventual champions, France in a game that ended 4-3.

The Barcelona legend has been quiet since the World Cup concluded but has now reportedly put forth three terms in front of the AFA. All these conditions are clearly the results of Argentina’s failures in recent years.

Speaking of the terms, Messi has firstly asked Claudio Tapia, the President of the AFA to hire an able coach – a coach who has a clear game plan in his mind. Th 31-year-old added that the manager must have a definite, specific style of play.

Argentina hasn’t had the best men on the hot seat in recent years, and even Jorge Sampaoli, the man who led Chile to two successive Copa America triumph came in for a lot of criticism for his tactics this past month.

Secondly, Messi wants himself to be assigned with a clear role in the side. Lack of stability and consistency in team and manager selection has created a sense of confusion amongst the players, as they all forced to change their roles and fit into different team shapes and structures.

Lastly, the little magician wants the AFA to resolve all domestic conflicts. He wants the board to wipe out internal conflicts and make sure the team plays without any of those worries.

Messi is currently on holiday and will return to Barcelona before the start of the new season.

His decision of planting these terms and conditions will definitely trigger the board and force them to change their approach in many ways. Surely, the AFA can’t afford to lose one of their most important players due to their own mistakes.
