Klopp reveals he expected Alisson to mess up  

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed that he knew that Brazil number Alisson would eventually make a silly error that would lead to a goal. After scoring two goals in the first half against Leicester, the home side came back strongly in the second half as the relentlessly pressed the Reds.

Their unrelenting approach paid off as Kelechi Iheanacho bullied Alisson off the ball to help the Foxes score their only goal of the match. After Virgil Van Dijk made a wayward pass back to the Brazilian, the former Roma shot-stopper tried to evade the former Manchester City forward with a Cruyff in his own box.

However, it backfired as Iheanacho stole the ball from him and passed it for Rachid Ghezzal to score and bring the hosts back in the game. In the end, it didn’t matter as the scores stayed that way as the Reds now lead the Premier League table with four wins out of four.

Meanwhile, Jurgen Klopp admitted that he was aware like something like this would happen and called for his players to be aware of the other ways to react in such situations.

“I thought it would happen [but] I didn’t think it would happen during [this] match,” the Liverpool manager said. “He knows it [was a mistake], we need to get used to it. We constantly get the ball to the keeper but the player needs to learn there are other solutions.

“Joe (Gomez) could have cleared the ball, Alisson could have too. That is how it is. He is a fantastic goalkeeper, makes some fantastic saves. He didn’t do what he was supposed to but it’s all good.”

The former Borussia Dortmund manager then mentioned that his team had the chance to score in the early stages of the game and were somewhat lucky to win while also adding that it was ultimately deserved.

“We could have scored earlier in the game, I said a few times in the past a dry pitch mean not good football, Leicester wanted to be aggressive but couldn’t because we moved so well. The moment the pitch got dry we needed too long to get used to it.

“Second half we have to control with the ball, we did that without the ball by dropping deeper. We were in a few situations a little lucky, but think we deserved to win.
