Isco diagnosed with acute appendicitis  

Real Madrid’s Isco has been diagnosed with acute appendicitis prior to the Madrid derby. That said, the midfielder has undergone a successful surgery. In the club’s statement, there has been no mention of the timeframe of his recovery.

According to doctors, it takes around four-five weeks to recover from the appendectomy completely. The patient is supposed to rest in bed for at least three weeks.

Isco has been pivotal in Los Blancos’ season so far, having featured in all seven of their matches. He also scored the opener for his side in their 3-0 demolition of AS Roma in midweek as well. According to his manager, Julien Lopetegui, the 26-year-old complained regarding stomach pain on Tuesday morning.

The club statement read:

'After tests were performed on Isco, he was diagnosed with acute appendicitis. Our player has been successfully operated on at the Sanitas La Moraleja Hospital. The intervention was carried out under the supervision of the medical services of Real Madrid.'

Ahead of the gruelling fixture against Sevilla, Lopetegui, who has shown loads of faith in the playmaker since taking charge of the European champions, remarked, 'We wish him a speedy recovery and we'll think about the solutions and those who can play because we have the utmost confidence in them.'

Real Madrid will certainly miss the in-form Spaniard, who has a goal and an assist in the league so far. Not only does he foil the defence and start attacks, but also dictate proceedings and create chances. Courtesy of his consistent passing and composed demeanour in midfield, the Galacticos are level on points with rivals Barcelona.

Along with the crucial derby against 5^th placed Atletico Madrid, Isco will mostly miss matches against CSKA Moscow, Alaves, Levante and Plzen. He may not appear in the all-important outing versus Barcelona on 28^th October either.
