Everton eyeing shock move for Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo – Reports

Everton are eyeing a move for Marcos Rojo according to Goal.com. The Toffees are looking for alternatives after being left frustrated by Barcelona’s demands for Yerry Mina.

The Merseyside club were hoping to land the central defender for £27 million but have been rebuffed by the Spanish side. Everton have refused to match the Catalans' asking price of £35 million and are reportedly considering a move for the Manchester United defender.

United are looking to sell Rojo to raise funds for Harry Maguire. The Red Devils are keen on signing the English defender from Leicester City, but the foxes are demanding a world record fee for him.

With the Premier League transfer window set to close on August 9th, Toffees are looking to solve their defensive issues and bring in one of Yerry Mina or Marcos Rojo by the end of this week. Right now, it seems like Rojo will be heading to Everton with Yerry Mina moving to Old Trafford.

However, Goal.com claim that Everton have still not given up entirely on Mina and are using the Rojo interest to force Barcelona to make a quick decision. Meanwhile, Lyon are also said to be interested in the defender.

The 23-year-old defender has removed all traces of Barcelona from his Instagram account. He is said to be frustrated with the club and is looking for a move away. He arrived from Palmeiras in January earlier this year and has been given an opportunity in the first team by Ernesto Valverde only a few times.

His impressive performance at the World Cup caught a lot of, and it was reported that the Catalan side were not willing to let him leave. However, with them signing more Non-EU players, they are desperate to sell him so that they can make another move for Willian this summer.
