Cristiano Ronaldo’s Sister Posts Lengthy Instagram Update in Defence of Her Brother

In this post, she explained, 'It was only this that I wanted to tell you, Cristiano. When you were twelve years old you arrived in Lisbon full of tears and hopes you said you were just a child from Madeira.'

She continued, 'In less than five years you were playing in the Sporting first team and they said you were just a skilled freak. A few months later, you signed up for Manchester United. When you arrived in England, they said you were one for the future but in six seasons you scored 118 goals.'

Giving her brother all the confidence he needs, Katia continued, 'When Real Madrid bought you, they said you were just a name to sell shirts, but since 2009 you have already scored 422 goals in 418 games and you have already achieved practically all the records you had to beat in the club.'

Speaking about his accolades, she wrote, 'In 2008, you received the first Ballon d'Or, and they said you would only win that, but you've already won four more. As captain of the national team, they said you were just a captain without charisma, without a spirit of leadership and yet in 2016, you were the first Portuguese to lift the European Championship.'

Bashing the critics, she said, 'Now, because you haven't scored like an alien in two or three matches, they say that you are just another player at the end of your career, almost finished, on a descending curve. Don't worry.'

She also said, 'When you smile with a trophy in your hands on top of the Eiffel Tower, or when you score a decisive goal, or when you achieve another record, you will have them there watching. Applauding, of course, because it's what they have left.'
