Cristiano Ronaldo to make his Juventus debut against AC Chievo Verona

Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri has confirmed that his club's star arrival of the summer, Cristiano Ronaldo, will make his Juventus debut during the club's 2018-19 Serie A season opener against A.C. Chievo Verona on Saturday. Ronaldo had already played for the Old Lady last week in their win over Juventus B as a part of the club’s traditional curtain-raiser in Turin. But, the match was not an official one and the Portuguese international will be making his Serie A debut on August 18.

Talking to the media ahead of their game against Chievo, Allegri confirmed that Ronaldo will make his debut and was full of praises for the former Real Madrid man.

'Tomorrow Ronaldo will play. He’s won five Ballon d’Ors and always wants to push himself. In 15 days I haven’t spotted anything extraordinary from him, but it’s immediately clear to me that he’s different to the others. It’s shown by what he’s won. For everyone else, it’s an important stimulus because winning, continuing to win and being the best for the past 11 years with Messi is a stimulus. However, this shouldn’t make us fall into the fact that if Ronaldo is there, we win. Ronaldo helps us win if the teamwork in a certain way. It’s a great added value for a team who have played in two Champions League Finals in the last four years and won what needed to be won,' he said.

Ronaldo moved from Real Madrid to the Bianconeri earlier in the transfer window for a whopping €120 million in a deal which is easily the best transfer signing of the window. Ronaldo will look to set Serie A on fire like he did with the English Premier League and La Liga and will also look to end Juventus' UEFA Champions League title drought.

He will have to wait for one more week before he plays his first official home game as a Juventus player as his side will host Lazio in their first home game of the season on August 25.
