Borussia Dortmund sign promising teenager Achraf Hakimi on loan from Real Madrid

Promising Real Madrid youngster Achraf Hakimi has completed a two-year loan move to Borussia Dortmund. The Morocco international featured in nine La Liga as well as two Champions League matches for Madrid last season – impressing people with his skills and composure.

The youngster also played a major role in Morocco's World Cup campaign, starting all three of their matches before they were eliminated in the group stages.

Hakimi was used as a right back by the Spanish giants last season but as a left back for Morocco; a clear testament to his versatility. He is also more than handy occupying the centre of the defence and is touted to become one of the top defenders in Europe in the future.

The 19-year-old has shown real potential at linking play from a wide position and is good with possession although one area he needs to work on is his end product. Sharing the dressing room with the likes of Lukas Piszczek and co. would only aid his game.

In a statement released on the Dortmund website, sporting director Michael Zorc said, 'Achraf Hakimi is a young, very dynamic full-back who has played at the very highest level with Real Madrid and the Morocco national team.'

Dortmund also have first refusal on Hakimi, meaning if Madrid do decide to offload him after his loan spell, they would be able to match the bid of any other potential suitors.

The 19-year-old will join his new teammates on their pre-season tour to the United States. Dortmund had a disappointing 2017/18 campaign, finishing fourth in the Bundesliga and exiting the DFB Pokal in the third round at the hands of Bayern Munich.

New manager Favre will be looking to turn their fortunes around as he attempts to build a side that can finally challenge Bayern for the title.

He has been quite active this transfer window, having already secured the services of Marwin Hitz, Eric Oelschlagel, Thomas Delaney, Marius Wolf and Abdou Diallo whilst offloading Yarmolenko.
