Berbatov opens up on Pogba-Mourinho relationship

Former Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov believes Jose Mourinho and Paul Pogba will sort matters and resolve their differences. According to the 37-year-old, the duo will form a better understanding as time passes and increased responsibility for Pogba could be the solution.

Mourinho and Pogba have endured a rocky relationship, which has largely heated up in the last two months due to United’s problems on the pitch. The Red Devils have already suffered two losses since the start of the season, at the hands of Brighton and Spurs.

Berbatov brought a sense of wisdom by opening the lid on his views regarding this issue at Old Trafford. 'Neither of them should go, it’s all just speculation and it’s not helping. The focus needs to change to football there.”

'At a big club there are always going to be issues and you will always have players with big egos who want to win and sometimes this can create friction between the players or with the manager but it’s normal in football clubs especially a big successful club,” he insisted.

Providing further insight, he said, 'When you are a grown up man you know how to deal with a situation like this, but if those outside the club are constantly talking about it and coming up with stories then it’s not helping anyone.

'I’m far away from the team so I’m just reading what everyone else is reading, I don’t have the inside word but even if there is something going on then the people involved should know how to deal with it and that’s the end of it. We are all humans, everyone makes mistakes, but the focus should be on the field,' he added.

Many would agree to Berbatov, who thinks both the professionals must move on with their tasks, maintain a civil relationship and guide United to victories and silverware. Mourinho’s side travel to Vicarage Road to play a high-flying Watford side on 15 September.
