Barcelona want Zinedine Zidane’s unwanted man from Real Madrid

The transfer market is nearing closer and Barcelona by hook or by crook need to make amends this summers through a few needed departures and a few needed world-class arrivals at the Camp Nou. In fact, Quique Setien finds himself in a position he’s never been before in his managerial career, since the Blaugrana need reinforcements in all three departments, from the defence to the midfield to the final attacking third.

The midfield, however, seems to be a very unstable position in Setien’s squad as most of the starting eleven midfielders are past their prime including the likes Ivan Rakitic, Sergio Busquets, Arturo Vidal. The only two midfielders that are young have experience playing at the highest division are Frenkie de Jong who has struggled to settle down at Barca in his debut season and Arthur Melo who may be sold this season in a swap deal that would see Pjanic of Juventus swap cards.

To add youth and build a sustainable future, Josep Maria Bartomeu has shortlisted Zinedine Zidane’s unwanted man, Dani Ceballos, according to Don Balon.

Dani Ceballos was once a Barcelona target as well
The current Arsenal loanee signed for Real Madrid in the summer of 2017/18 after performing admirably for Real Betis, however, the Blaugrana also offered the former Real Betis man a lucrative contract but Ceballos preferred the Bernabeu as an ideal destination to shape his future.

Unfortunately, things have not panned out the way the Spanish international thought it would at Real Madrid after Zinedine Zidane should little to no interest in providing the talented Spaniard game-time.

Two seasons later, Dani Ceballos left for Arsenal and has shown his true potential this season at Arsenal, however, Zinedine Zidane has no plans including the midfielder next season, and is willing to let the player walkout for a hefty fee.

Quique Setien is an avid admirer of his former pupil who he only got to work with for a month before Ceballos switched to Real Madrid. Nonetheless, the former Real Betis manager wants his former pupil next season at Camp Nou and Bartomeu has shortlisted the player who is on a contract with Real Madrid until 2023.

If Bartomeu wants to sign Dani Ceballos from Real Madrid this coming summer transfer market, a hefty transfer fee would have to be offered since the Los Blancos man is also wanted by other European clubs as well who are willing to pay a large sum.

A midfield including the likes of Ceballos, Riqui Puig, Frenkie de Jong, Alex Collado, Arthur Melo, and Carles Alena for the future would be a dream come true for any Barcelona fan. Would you want Ceballos at Barca next season?
