Barcelona Transfer Rumours: Liverpool set to fight Barca for ‘next Philippe Coutinho’
Barcelona are set to go to war against Liverpool again as the two sides look to sign a player being touted as ‘the next Philippe Coutinho’. The Catalans recently signed Coutinho in the January transfer window after a long drawn out transfer saga coming to an end with the Reds bagging a cool £142 million for the transfer.
And now the two giants of football have turned a keen eye towards Lyon wonderkid Houssem Aouar. The 19-year-old has turned eyeballs with his performances in Ligue 1 and now it seems that the youngster has found ardent admirers at both Anfield as well as Camp Nou.

According to reports from Goal, the French U21 stars, the Reds came very close to securing the services of the talented forward before he was persuaded to put pen to paper on a new deal for his boyhood club. Barcelona, meanwhile are also keeping close tabs on the situation.
Aouar has started 17 games in Ligue 1 this season – impressing all and sundry with his play at the centre of the park. The youngster, however, is adaptable and possesses the ability to play in a no. 1o role or on the left hand side of a front three – leading to comparisons with Coutinho.
“I’ve always played in the middle, so the role of hard-working midfielder is the one that I like the most,” he said. “But I like the left wing, too. It allows me to work and to develop other skills. I’ll adapt to anything.
“It doesn’t matter where I play, I know it’s my chance and I’ll play anywhere to take it.'
Aouar has used this season as his coming out party – putting up impressive performances both in France as well as in the Europa League. However, it seems like his days in France might be numbered as he continues to churn out notable performances every time he takes to the field.
