Barcelona make second bid for Chelsea star Willian – Report

Reports in Spain claim that Barcelona have made another bid for Willian. The Catalan side are keen on signing him and have made a reported £53 million bid.

It's reported that this is their second bid for the Chelsea winger. The London club rejected a bid of £50 million for the winger last month and made it clear that they are not willing to sell him, but Barcelona are not giving up.

According to Sky Sports, the Spanish champions have now made an improved bid of £53 million.

Willian was signed by Chelsea from the jaws of Tottenham in 2013. The Brazilian had completed his medical at White Hart Lane when he got a call from the Blues, and he made the switch straight away.

He became a consistent performer in recent seasons for Chelsea and went on to win the Players' Player of the Year award for the 2017/18 season. Along with the individual honours, he also managed 2 Premier League medals, an FA Cup medal and a League Cup.

His performances not only impressed Barcelona but Manchester United as well. The Red Devils are also said to be keen on signing the winger with Jose Mourinho, his former boss, being a big fan of the Brazilian. However, it's Barcelona who are in the lead right now.

Manchester United have not made a formal offer yet and are looking at alternatives as well. Willian is keen on joining the Old Trafford side, but Chelsea might opt to sell him abroad and not to a direct rival.

Sky Sports News report that Willian in the primary target for Barcelona this summer and has been on their radar for at least three months. The Catalan club are still looking to sign a winger who can dominate the right flank.

With Maurizio Sarri taking over at Chelsea, reports suggest that Willian could be the first player to leave in an overhaul of players this summer at Chelsea. However, some reports indicate that the Italian manager is desperate to keep him at the club along with Eden Hazard.Bar
