Another Major Problem For Chelsea, How Will The Board React Now?

Anyone who knows a thing or two about Chelsea knows that the west London outfit has always had issues with regards to the handling of its loanees. These young players are often sent away from the club for years and never given the right kind of opportunities. Despite having a lot of talent, they fail to earn a place in the starting eleven and are sent away on multiple occasions before being eventually sold.

The Londoners have 39 players away on loan at present, who may never get a chance to play for the first team. There is already a lot of competition for places at the club and some talented stars are totally overlooked, with Loftus-Cheek and Callum Hudson-Odoi being proof of that.

It has been reported that things are now going to change, with regards to this policy, as new rules will be implemented soon. However, this is not going to be due to a change in decision making at the club level, but because the FA is going to enforce some laws that will make it happen.

A recent report suggests that the English FA is going to possibly limit the number of players that can be loaned out of the club from 2020/21 between six to eight. This could be a good way to curb the total number of young talents that a club can acquire in the first place and might give the youngsters more freedom to choose the right club for their careers.

The Blues have been criticized in the past for the way that they have been handling things and will now be forced to change that. This would mean that a lot of young talents might have to be retained by them and employed more often, or the budding stars might leave Stamford Bridge for more regular football elsewhere.

Maurizio Sarri has been utilizing some of these young talents in pre-season and the cup competitions and they have really impressed. These performances by them have raised questions, as to whether the players deserve a place in the club’s starting eleven, over some of the other stars who have really failed to impress.

The west London outfit has been dominating the FA Youth Cup in recent times and these talents are the future of the club, though the numbers will now have to be substantially reduced. The club has been utilizing their youngsters in the best possible way over the years, as and when the need has arisen, though now those numbers will have to be curbed.

What is the long-term solution for this problem is still unknown, with the governing body also thinking on limiting the total number of foreign players per club to 13, which could be another factor in this story. A lot of top English outfits have a lot of players coming in from various other nations and now, with the need to sell becoming a priority in the days to come, things could really get interesting in the transfer window as well.
