Andre Schurrle joins Fulham on two-year loan deal

Newly promoted to the Premier League, Fulham are already dreaming big and have completed the signing of German international Andre Schurrle on a two-year loan deal

Schurrle, who will don the No. 14 shirt, told fulhamfctv: 'I'm so happy to be here, I can't wait to get started.

'Fulham were the first club that showed interest in me – that was something that I appreciated a lot, and one of the reasons I wanted to come here.

'I love ball possession, I love attacking, and I love making runs, so I think it could be perfect. I have to fight for my place and I have to show my quality so that I can be a member who really helps the team,' he added.

Schurrle has tasted life in the Premier League before, having been a part of London side Chelsea for 18 far-from-fruitful months. He did however secure a Premier League winner’s medal despite being loaned out to Wolfsburg at the time.

Schurrle, who has been capped by Germany 57 times and was a part of their World Cup-winning side in 2014, managed just 3 goals from 33 appearances for Borussia Dortmund and was mainly used as a bit-part player by the German side. At Fulham, he is likely to secure a lot more playing time as the Craven Cottage side look to retain their spot in the Premier League and maybe even push for a top-half finish.

Fulham have been extremely busy in the market this season, having already acquired the services of Jean Michael Seri and Maxime Le Marchand from Nice, as well as Fabri from Besiktas.

Interestingly enough, Schurrle scored a hat-trick at Craven Cottage, netting thrice for Chelsea way back in 2014.

Club chairman Tony Khan was delighted with the signing, saying, “We’re ecstatic that we have reached an agreement to add Andre, given his impeccable credentials and his tremendous skill, and can’t wait to see him in Fulham colours. Come on Fulham!”
