AFC Champions 2020 Schedule, Venues and other Details

The 2020 AFC Champions League is the 39th edition of this premier club football contest in Asia that is organized by the AFC (Asian Football Confederation). This is also the 18th edition under the present AFC Champions League title. The tournament winners will be qualifying automatically for the 2021 AFC Champions League which is the first time since the year 2008 that the holders of the title will get automatic qualification irrespective of their domestic league performance. They will also be earning the right to compete in the 2020 FIFA Club World Cup in Qatar. The runners-up in the tournament will also be qualifying in case the winners are from Qatar itself. Both the finalists will be guaranteed a qualifier position in the 2021 FIFA Club World Cup at China along with the representative of the host and the winning club from the playoff that has the losing semi-finalists.
This tournament is the last one to have 32 teams in the group stage and this tally may go up to 40 teams for the 2021 season. Al-Hilal from Saudi Arabia are presently the defending champions in the tournament.

FC Goa achieves unique feat of getting into AFC Champions League

FC Goa has got an entry into the AFC Champions League which is the top-tier club contest in the continent after defeating Jamshedpur FC by a 5-0 margin in an ISL (Indian Super League) game. Goa ended the league stage of the ISL at pole position and the top team at the end of the ISL league stage is automatically guaranteed a place in the 2021 AFC Champions League. FC Goa concluded the league with a handsome 39 points in 18 games and is 6 points ahead of ATK who are at the second position with a tally of 33 points and a match left to be played.
