Adam Lallana insists Liverpool must win trophies this season

Adam Lallana has confessed that Liverpool must taste silverware this season. According to the midfielder, the Reds need to take the ‘next step’ and add trophies to their cabinet after having lavishly spent in the transfer window.

The Merseyside club has not won a major trophy in the last six years despite changing systems, managers, players and other staff members. Under Klopp’s tutelage, Jordan Henderson and co. have appeared in three finals but failed to win any of them whilst finishing no higher than 4th in the league table.

However, it is high time they start converting wins into trophies. Despite stating the bitter fact that they need to start winning silverware, Lallana was optimistic about his team’s chances.

'For my club, I just want to take the next step now. We've been in a few finals that we haven't been victorious in and that needs to change. We've got all the ingredients there, the experience we've gained and the squad we've put together, the signs are really good for us to go the next step,' admitted Lallana.

On a personal note, the midfielder said, 'It's a really exciting time, I'm delighted to be at a top club like Liverpool that are going to be challenging for trophies again and I'm looking forward to playing for England again.”

He also disclosed Manchester City are the team to beat again. 'Hopefully, Liverpool and three or four of the other top teams can squeeze a few more points out of City this year and that would make it more interesting,' he insisted.

Liverpool kickstart their league season on the 12th of August, against a revitalized West Ham United as they look to improve on a 4th place finish.

Having addressed their issues by splashing over £170m for reinforcements, they look stronger and well on course to land an accolade to Anfield.
