Talking Points Of Arsenal’s 3-0 Away Win Over Vorskla, As Big Names Rested For Spurs’ Game

Arsenal made the trip away from the Emirates to face off against Ukrainian side Vorskla in Kiev in their Europa League away fixture. The Gunners had already gone through, and manager Unai Emery had decided to employ some of his young talents for this fixture. In what was expected to be a crucial game for the hosts and just another day in the office for the north Londoners, things went according to play for the Spaniard.

His team managed to score thrice in the first half and also keep a clean sheet, with no goals coming in the second 45. First-half goals from Emile Smith Rowe, Aaron Ramsey, and Joe Willock were enough to ensure that the Premier League giants took back all three points from the game.

Here are the talking points of this emphatic win, ahead of the vital fixture against Tottenham at the weekend-

Emery’s Young-Guns Shine In Europe

The Arsenal boss rested most of his top guns with a hectic set of crucial games coming up in December. He decided to employ some of his young stars in a fixture that did not matter too much for their cause. Emery will be proud of the way that his young stars played and the maturity that they showed to gel with the experienced ones.

19-year-old Eddie Nketiah led the front-line quite maturely, and Emile Smith Rowe showed why he is as good as any top youngster in England. On the other hand, Willock’s cool and composed finish also drew some big-time praises for him. Ramsey and Cech also played their part in the match, and it was a good overall performance.

Ramsey Should Remain At Arsenal

There have been a mixed set of reactions from the fans with regards to the Aaron Ramsey situation. A lot of the club’s faithful want him to stay, while there is also a section of the Gooners, who want him to leave. He has been loyal to the club, and it seems that he has still more to offer. The way he linked-up and inspired the youngsters to perform well today only shows his class and the fact that his loyalty should be rewarded and he should be given more chances this season to show his worth. If the Welshman can convince the board that he is worth the money, they might reconsider and offer him the deal that he wants. You never know!!

Linesman’s Strange Call Denies Smith-Rowe A Second Goal

The visitors managed to score a 4th time in the game, only to be denied by the linesman, who ruled out Smith Rowe’s second of the game. It did not seem like the right call, as Nketiah (who could have been considered offside) did not interfere with the goal in any way. So, in what should have been a second for the English midfielder, turned into a silly offside decision.

The players too were surprised at the decision that was made, and though they did protest initially, they had to just get-on with the game eventually. There was no point arguing once the call had been made and the offside decision stood, canceling out the goal.

Defense Holds On To Retain Crucial Clean Sheet

Though the defensive line was not always comfortable, they did just enough to hold on to the clean sheet. They also helped in the game-play, as they pushed forward and joined the attack at times. Elneny and Guendouzi too made their contributions in the match, with the latter being subbed in the second half of the game.

Petr Cech’s role in front of goal also saw him make a good save while charging on the opposition attacker’s feet to block a shot. It was one of the best saves of this game, and the veteran star once again showed that why he is one of the best in front of goal. Emery will surely have some significant problems in term of team selection very soon.
