Study Reveals Ronaldo Would Be The Most Expensive Player Of All Time
- Updated: March 23, 2018
PSG broke the world-record for transfers in football when they signed Brazilian superstar for €222 million (£196 million) from Barcelona last summer. However, according to a recent study which takes inflation into account it has shown that it would be another Brazilian who would be at the top of the pile if a move for him was made this summer.
And that name in none other than former Real Madrid striker Ronaldo Nazario. The fresh study which from Play Ratings has uncovered that if the Brazilian sensation’s then world record move from Barcelona to Inter Milan was made in the current market, it would amount to a staggering €433 million.
Ronaldo had taken everyone in the world by storm after scoring 47 goals in 49 appearances in his solitary season at the Camp Nou. This led to the Italian giants breaking the then world record to sign the Brazilian for €28 million euros in 1997. That was the second time that a club had broken the world record for the Brazilian.

Inter, however, failed to see the best of Ronaldo as persistent injuries saw the star appear in only 99 games for the Nerazzrui over five seasons – scoring 59 goals.
Ronaldo was certainly La Phenomena for a reason and was considered by most as a cut above the rest in his prime and according to the recent studies he would command a fee that would double of what PSG shelled out to bring Neymar to Paris.
The list is seen to be dominated by moves to the Serie A with Diego Maradona’s move to Napoli from Barcelona being touted to be worth €345 million in the current market. Similarly Michel Platini’s move to Juventus in 1983 is rated at €334 million.
Elsewhere on the list we get to see that Inter’s move for Christian Vieri would cost €334 million, Marco van Basten’s transfer to AC Milan equates to €328 million while Gabriel Batistuta’s move from Fiorentina to Roma would be worth €281 million.
Amongst recent transfers, Gonzalo Higuain’s move from Napoli to Serie A rivals Juventus has been said to be equivalent to 264 million if it happened today.
