Saudi Arabian Fan Sets Off On A 50-Day Journey To See The World Cup

With the World Cup beginning in just 49 days, a Saudi Arabian fan by the name of Khalid Al-Otaibi has set on a journey to Russia to watch his team play the tournament in the country.

According to the Saudi Press agency, Saudi amateur traveler Mikhled bin Khalid Al-Otaibi began his journey from the town of Tabuk, which resides in the northwest of the country.

With blessing from Prince Fahd bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, the governor of Tabuk Region, Al-Otaibi began his voyage, which is in dedication to Saudi Arabia qualifying for the tournament.

The agency also revealed that Al-Otaibi will traverse through Jordan, Egypt and Turkey to reach his destination in a journey that adds up to 3000 kilometers and is expected to take 50 days to conclude.

 

'Al-Otaibi is scheduled to reach Russia via Jordan, Egypt and Turkey, a 3,000 kilometers journey expected to take 50 days,' the Saudi Press Agency announced. 'Al-Otaibi said he is carrying the flag of his country and portraits of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.'

The Saudi Arabian outfit will commence the tournament on the 14th of June in Moscow as they take on hosts Russia in the first game of the tournament. They have been drawn in Group A along with the likes of Uruguay and Egypt, who they face on the 20th of June at Rostov-on-Don and 25th of June at the city of Volgograd, respectively.
