Sarri urges Chelsea to force Hazard contract issue

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has urged Chelsea’s top brass to end the uncertainity over star man Eden Hazard’s long term future at Stamford Bridge.

Hazard who has been Chelsea’s stand out player since he signed for them 6 seasons ago has been stalling a new deal.  Sarri has raised his concerned and has admitted the Blues must solve this problem with the Belgian’s contract set to expire in 2020.

Hazard who scored both the goals in Chelsea’s 2-1 win over Watford on Boxing Day is the Blues leading goal scorer this season having found the back of the next on 10 ocassions in 19 games. Spanish Giant’s Real Madrid who snatched away fellow Belgian Thibaut Courtois from the Bridge in the summer are now eying Chelsea’s most prized asset.

“The club can decide for him. I think it’s right that the club knows the future, and has the chance to programme the future. I think that the club has to program the future. And I think that they need to start in this period. If we want to programme the future, we have to solve this problem” Maurizio Sarri told reporters.

The Italian was asked if he could help resolve the issue to which he replied: “No, because I do not have the power to do this. I am the coach. I am not the president; I am not in charge of the market, I am the coach. I want to speak to him only about the position on the pitch.”

Hazard has been scoring plenty of goals off-late after he has been deployed as a false 9 position by Maurizio Sarri, but Hazard has made it clear he prefers to operate on the wings.

“I think it’s more important what he says to me. I cannot see the problem of Hazard in this role, he played four matches as false number nine, and he scored three goals and two made assists. So I am not able to see the problem.

“I am really very happy with him in this position, because he’s very able to score, first of all, but he’s very able to open spaces for the team-mates, to come and play with the team-mates. So at the moment I am very happy with him in this position, but in the future he can also play as a winger of course.

“I don’t know if he prefers to play as a winger or a striker, but if he is able to play as in the last match in the centre for me it’s not a problem to put him in the centre” Sarri said.

Eden Hazard has openly expressed his desire to play for Real Madrid but recently did a u-turn on his comments by stating he wants to be a Chelsea Legend after scoring his 100th goals for the Blues.
