Sacking Lopetegui would be crazy, says Ramos

Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos believes it would be ‘crazy’ for the club to sack their recently appointed manager Julen Lopetegui. Despite pressure mounting on the former Spain boss after a third defeat in four matches, the team’s skipper has supported his gaffer’s cause.

The Galacticos are presently suffering from a desolate run of form, which began with a dismal 3-0 loss at the hands of Sevilla on 26 September. Post that fixture, they have suffered defeats against CSKA Moscow and Alaves. They are now with just 14 points from 8 matches.

Although he’s not worried about being axed, no one can deny the pressure that’s surrounding his hot seat at the Spanish capital. Against many supporters’ skeptical reviews of recent results and the new manager, Ramos has stood up to back his boss.

Speaking on Saturday, Ramos told reporters, 'Other people take decisions like that, but it's never good when there is a change in coach. It would be crazy!”

'We have to move on because the season is very long and there's a very long way to go. Whoever says Real Madrid are dead is always proved wrong in the long term,” he boasted.

He continued: 'We [the players] are the first people that need to do more to improve and we're trying to do that. It's not fair to point the blame at anyone, we're all conscious of the reality. Results are what people talk about and especially when you lose, but we are still committed, we are still ambitious and we still want to win, it's in our DNA. We're on the right path despite the bad results.'

Ramos seems pretty confident, focused and unbothered at the moment. Like a professional, he has addressed the matter with a positive thought. However, only time will tell what Real Madrid’s season has in store for us. Post a much-needed international break, they host Levante on 20 October.
