Ronaldo in ICU after being diagnosed with pneumonia
Former Real Madrid and Barcelona legend Ronaldo was recently admitted into a hospital in Ibiza after contracting pneumonia. Ronaldo was initially rushed to Can Misses Hospital after complaining of severe chest pains, but requested for a transfer to Clinica Nuestra Señora del Rosario later that day. The former Brazilian striker was apparently on vacation in Ibiza, where he owns a house and holidays regularly, when he contracted the illness.
While he was initially being monitored in the intensive care unit, Ronaldo is said to have been making progress, and is already on the road to recovery. He even tweeted a message to his supporters, allaying their fears. “Friends, I had a strong flu picture in Ibiza and I had to be boarded on Friday but it's all in order. I get the discharge tomorrow and come back home. Thank you all for your love and your messages!' read the tweet.
The 41-year-old has a history of health issues. In 2012, he contracted dengue and posted a picture of himself receiving drips in a hospital with the caption 'Good morning to all those who began the New Year with dengue.' He has also battled weight problems due to a thyroid issue and the latest setback will do nothing to help his cause.

Ronaldo was never the fittest of footballers during his playing days but that didn’t stop him from becoming one of the greatest strikers to have ever played the game. The Brazilian turned out for some of Europe’s elite clubs, including Real Madrid, Barcelona, Inter Milan and AC Milan, and had an extremely successful stint with the Brazilian national team, scoring 62 goals in 98 games and lifting the World Cup trophy in 2002.
He retired in 2011 after spending two seasons with Corinthians.
