Roma keeper Alisson Becker nearing a move to Liverpool – Reports

Alisson Becker’s agent is supposedly about to meet the AS Roma chiefs today, which most probably indicates that he could be on his way out of Rome. According to Sky Sports italia, his future is soon going to be decided. They have also reported that La Lupa haven’t yet received an official bid for the goalkeeper.

Alisson endured a break-out season with Roma and was also Brazil’s number 1 in the World Cup, chosen ahead of Manchester City’s Ederson. Owing to his class, he made a total of 98 saves in the 2017-18 campaign.

Worth £80 million, the shot-stopper has been a prime transfer target for many clubs, including Real Madrid, Chelsea and Liverpool. While the Champions League winners are keen on offloading Keylor Navas, Chelsea are chasing him as a replacement for Thibaut Courtois, who could be on his way out of Stamford Bridge. The Reds want him to solve their issues in goal, as neither Loris Karius nor Simon Mignolet have been able to stamp their authority at Anfield.

Quite a few scenarios seem to be on the surface regarding his move. Although Liverpool have been admirers, his price tag has put them off. Real Madrid may not even go for him if they land Courtois to the Bernabeu. On the flip side of the story, Roma may not sell him if they don’t snap up Gianluigi Donnarumma, Robin Olsen or Alphonse Areola – who have all been linked to the Italian club.

Jurgen Klopp and co. shouldn’t shy away from placing a huge bid as they desperately need a replacement in goal if they have to challenge for trophies. The Blues can hold on to Courtois by hiking his wages. The World Cup Golden Glove award winner earlier stated that he ‘likes it in London.’

Although Keylor Navas has looked unconvincing at times in the previous season, he still remains an able goalkeeper, arguably one of the better shot-stoppers in Europe. Hence, it is Liverpool who need him most. However, this important meeting with the Roma’s higher authorities is what will ultimately determine Alisson’s future.
