Real Madrid News: Ronaldo dropped from next La Liga game

Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has been dropped from the squad for the side’s next La Liga game against Leganes on Wednesday. The decision by Zinedine Zidane was taken to avoid any injury worries ahead of a crucial Champions League second leg against PSG next week.

The Real manager had already dropped a subtle hint after their win over Betis at the weekend.

Speaking after the game, the Frenchman had remarked, 'I don't know how many years he (Ronaldo) went without stopping, but now the moment has come where it's necessary for him and for everyone for him to not play from time to time.'

Ronaldo was again on the mark in the game against Betis as the side from the Spanish capital erased a 2-1 halftime deficit to record a sensational 5-3 win. The Portuguese skipper

That win, however, came at a great cost as their hugely influential left-back Marcelona was taken off after only 30 minutes of the contest. The Brazilian’s status for the game against PSG is still unknown.

Toni Kroos [knee] and Luka Modric [hamstring] have also picked up issues in the recent past and are in a race to be fit for the upcoming trip to Paris.

This comes as a tactical decision from the French great. The Blancos have had a tough time in Spain this season. Currently 17 points behind Barca (with a game in hand) with only 15 games to play for the defending champions it will take a miracle for them to get back into the title.

Thus, it seems as if Zidane is already waving the white flag when it comes to competing for the La Liga crown.

Real have already been knocked out from the Copa del Rey by today’s opponent earlier this season.
