Real Madrid News: Cristiano Ronaldo furious after Real Madrid suffer massive injury blow
- Updated: February 19, 2018
Cristiano Ronaldo, the Real Madrid superstar is believed to be furious after his side suffered a huge injury setback in their LaLiga game against Real Betis. Ronaldo was on the mark again as the Blancos came from behind again to register a thrilling 5-3 win.
The win, however, came at a huge cost as their Brazilia left-back Marcelo had to be withdrawn after only half an hour of the game. Marcelo has been an everpresent in the Real side for the last decade and was instrumental in helping Real record a convincing 3-1 win over PSG at the Bernabeu last week in the Champions League.
According to reports from Spanish media outlet Don Balon, Ronaldo is believed to be angry on his manager – Zinedine Zidane for risking Marcelona in the game against Betis. The Portuguese skipper is believed to be of the opinion that the 29-year-old has been overused this season and needed to be rested ahead of their crunch Champions League tie.
The Brazilian was substituted by Theo Hernandez in the game and now his availabitlity for the return leg against PSG has become a huge question mark. While Marcelo will still have one and a half weeks to recover, it will be a huge miss if doesn't get back to full fitness by that time.
Meanwhile, Zidane is still waiting on news of Marcelo’s knock.
'I hope that it's not too serious,' he said.
”Marcelo has told us that he doesn't feel it's too bad.
'However, we must wait for the test results before confirming anything.'
Whilst the severity of the injury is till unknown, the report suggests that this indeed could be a srious one.
If the reports are true, this will indeed be a blow of seismic proportions as it will mean that youngster Hernandez will be tasked with keeping Neymar and co. at bay. A promising project himself, the former Atletico left-back, however is yet to impress in the all white of Real.
