On-loan Real Madrid star picks the best player between Messi and Ronaldo
- Updated: September 15, 2018
Real Sociedad left-back Theo Hernandez has picked his former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo over Lionel Messi as the best player in the world.
Theo, who was sent on a season-long loan to Real Sociedad, took on Real Madrid's arch-rivals Barcelona at the San Sebastian earlier today but couldn't inspire his team to victory as Real Sociedad lost 2-1 after taking the lead in the first half.
In an interview, Theo admitted that Barcelona have good players but he likes only the Real Madrid stars and urged the journalist not to talk about Barcelona to him. He also said Marcelo is the best left-back in the world without a doubt in spite of Barcelona's Jordi Alba being a great player.
'In Barcelona, they are all very good players. But I like only Real Madrid players, so do not talk to me about Barcelona. Jordi Alba is a great player but, as I say, I like [Real Madrid’s] Marcelo more, who is the best left-back in the world without a doubt. Alba has always been going to the national team and now they have not called him, but I cannot comment on the reason,' Theo said.
He was also asked about the better Footballer between Cristiano and Leo Messi and the full-back did not hesitate before saying, 'Messi? For me, although he has left Real Madrid, I think the best is Cristiano Ronaldo.”
The 20-year-old left-back joined Real Madrid from their derby rivals Atletico Madrid on a six-year contract before the start of last season. He spent one year with Los Blancos where he was used as an understudy to Marcelo and got a few game time. Prior to the ongoing season, Theo was sent on loan to Sociedad as the club felt that he could get some game time with this move and it could help him evolve as a better player before he returns to the Bernabeu.
