Anthony Martial will be allowed to leave Manchester United by Jose Mourinho this coming summer if the forward truly wants the move, according to reports from the Mirror.
The 22-year-old caught the imagination in his first season at Old Trafford after Red Devils shelled out a then record ** million pound on the then teenager. It was the largest amount paid by anyone on anyone at that time on a teenager.
The former Monaco man has, however, lost his way in recent times and his place in the side as well after the arrival of Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal in January.
Reports from The Times suggests that Mourinho is well aware that Martial’s agent is on the lookout to find a new club for the youngster and has assured that he will not stand in the way of a move if Martial truly is looking at a new opportunity.
Martial’s contract at United will come to an end at the end of the 2019/20 season with the club having the option to extend it for another year.
However, with Martial looking at options elsewhere and Mourinho not really warming up to the Frenchman, his days might well be numbered at Manchester United.
Pogba speculations refuse to die
Meanwhile, Martial’s fellow countryman Paul Pogba has refused to put an end to speculations regarding his future at Manchester United.
The 25-year-old became the most expensive buy of all time in the summer of 2016 when United shelled out a then-world record fee of £89million to bring him back to English shores from Juventus.
Pogba has, however, looked a pale shadow of his former self – leading to Mourinho dropping him in some of the most high-profile games this season.
Whilst clearing the fact that he is really not interested in papers linking him with a move away from Old Trafford, the Frenchman refused to dampen the speculations.
The Mirror reports that Pogba told Canal Football Club: 'For now I'm at Manchester United, I really only think about the present. Transfers are not in my head.'
And on the PSG links, the France star added: 'You know, if I listened to everyone, I would be everywhere.'
The midfielder’s relationship with manager Jose Mourinhi has been a constant subject in the newspapers with many suggesting that he has fallen out with the manager.
But Pogba said: 'I do not have any problem with Mourinho.
'I do not think he has [a problem] either. He's the coach, he's going to make choices and I, as a player, I accept him. That is all.'
