Manchester United News: Eric Cantona set for Old Trafford return for Soccer Aid game

Manchester United legend Eric Cantona is set to return to his old hunting ground of Old Trafford in June later this year.

The Manchester United faithful will see their former talisman don the United colours once again as he takes part in a Soccer Aid charity football match for UNICEF.

And the 51-year-old seems quite excited at the prospect of coming back “home”.

'There is no place like home. Knowing I am coming back to Old Trafford is a special feeling,' stated the Frenchman recently whilst talking about the game.

'I am coming back to make the June 10 match the best ever and I want you to join me,' says the Frenchman.

'Let's make history together at Old Trafford again one last time.'

Who else will be there?

Cantona will be joined by a host of big names for the game which include Usain Bolt, Sir Mo Farah, Olly Murs and Gordon Ramsay.

Other former Manchester United stars featuring in the game include England Women boss Phil Neville and legendary keeper Edwin van der Sar.

Cantona – The King of Manchester

An enigmatic character to say the least, the Frenchman is hugely responsible for the beginning of the dynasty that is Manchester United in the present age.

Signed from perennial rivals Leeds United, for just £1.2m in 1992, Cantona proved to be his worth in gold. In five seasons at the club, he would go on to win four Premier League titles and two FA cups in addition to scoring 64 goals in 143 league games for the Red Devils.

Since retiring from football in 1997, he has taken to acting – acting in movies such as Elizabeth, French Film and Looking for Eric.
