Manchester United news: David De Gea fears Real Madrid transfer betrayal

DAVID DE GEA is concerned Real Madrid will swoop for Chelsea rival Thibaut Courtois.

A new goalkeeper is top of Real Madrid president Florentino Perez’s summer wish list after deciding to ditch Keylor Navas at the end of the campaign.

De Gea nearly joined Los Blancos in 2015 but a faulty fax machine on deadline day ended any hope of a switch.

He put pen to paper on a four-year contract extension less than a fortnight after his Real Madrid dream collapsed but he has remained on their radar.

Chelsea keeper Courtois is an alternative target for the Spanish giants.

And, according to Don Balon, Perez believes negotiations will be smoother with Chelsea than Manchester United

The Bernabeu bigwig is optimistic about sealing a deal for Courtois, who last week opened the door on a move.

The Belgium international, who previously spent three seasons on loan with Atletico Madrid, said: “My personal situation is related to the city of Madrid.

“My two children live there with their mum. I have my daughter every day on FaceTime. She often tells me that she misses me. My son is still too small to communicate like that.

“Whenever I have the opportunity, I try to return to Spain. As a situation, it is not always easy. Yes, my heart is in Madrid. It is logical and understandable.

“If they want me, they have to contact Chelsea. We'll see. But they have not done that. What is certain is that one day I will return to Madrid. I love Spain, I love the city, I spent three wonderful years there. It is there that I became an adult.”

''

He added: “If Real are really interested, my personal situation could influence things. The family aspect is priceless. But I repeat to you that, for the moment, I'm busy talking to Chelsea to extend.”

According to Don BalonReal Madrid are regularly holding talks with Courtois about a switch.

A move for Courtois would wreck De Gea’s hopes of ever playing for the club.

And Don Balon claim the Spain international fears he will end up being betrayed by Perez when the transfer window reopens.
