Man Utd boss Jose Mourinho has one huge concern because of Sir Alex Ferguson and Chelsea

MANCHESTER UNITED boss Jose Mourinho is reportedly worried about his Old Trafford legacy and whether he will ever be regarded in the same breath as Sir Alex Ferguson.

Manchester United appointed Mourinho as manager in the summer of 2016 yet, nearly two years on, the jury remains out.

The 54-year-old endured a nightmare Premier League campaign during his first season in charge but ended it with the EFL Cup and Europa League trophies in his possession.

This season, Manchester United sit only behind Manchester City in the Premier League table and remain in contention for the Champions League and FA Cup.

But the Manchester Evening News say that, though United could yet finish the campaign with two trophies, Mourinho is worried.

The 54-year-old is supposedly concerned he may never have a legacy like Ferguson’s.

The Scot won 49 trophies throughout his career, with 38 of those coming during his 26 years at United.

He is fondly remembered, however, for the style of play he also introduced.

United were swashbuckling when Ferguson ruled the roost, with the 76-year—old helping them overtake Liverpool as the most successful English team of all time.

Ferguson also made history by guiding United to a treble in 1999, the only side on these shores to ever achieve the feat.

And the MEN say Mourinho fears what his own legacy may be.

He is reportedly worried that he will never be loved by United supporters the way he was while at Chelsea.

Trophies have made the 54-year-old one of the world’s biggest and best managers, having scooped silverware at Chelsea, Inter Milan, Real Madrid and Porto.

And that is how he will be judged at United and by their expectant fan base.

The Red Devils face Sevilla tonight in the first leg of their Champions League clash (7.45pm).

They will start the game as favourites with Paul Pogba likely to feature, despite missing the 2-0 FA Cup victory over Huddersfield on Saturday through illness.
