Liverpool star feels he needs time to adapt to the Premier League

Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita feels it will take time for him to adjust to life in England and the rigours of the Premier League. Keita joined Liverpool from RB Leipzig for £52.75m this past summer and has featured in all of his side’s games thus far, putting in a string of impressive performances.

However, according to the Guinean, he still has a lot to learn and adapt to. 'I've been told by many people that a lot of overseas players come into the Premier League and they take time to integrate, depending on the circumstances. So playing in the Premier League can be difficult, but I am very motivated to play here, not just for myself and my team-mates, but for the club,” Keita told the club’s official magazine.

'Everybody around me has been very supportive towards me so I am certainly giving everything I can to get settled into the team quickly,' he added.

The 23-year-old has yet to register a goal or assist this season, but is motivated to improve and create new personal milestones as the season progresses.

'I'm the kind of person who thinks that if I score eight goals in one season my objective must be to score nine goals in the following season. That's the kind of mentality I have. The Premier League is different to other leagues where I have played and everybody knows it is very tough, but I will do my best to beat my own personal records – I'm very motivated.'

Keita arrived at Anfield this summer along with the likes of Fabinho, Xherdan Shaqiri and Alisson Becker as Jurgen Klopp looked to develop a squad capable of competing on all fronts.

He certainly seems to have done that as Liverpool have gotten off to a flying start in the Premier League, winning all of their four games in a more or less convincing manner. Keita has played his part in their victories, and will look to continue his fine displays with games coming thick and fast following the international break.
