Liverpool news: Roberto Firmino plan revealed to prevent shock summer transfer

LIVERPOOL are reportedly ready to reward Roberto Firming a bumper new contract in an attempt to discourage any potential suitors making a move in the summer.

Firmino scored for the third time in a row in Saturday’s 4-1 thrashing of West Ham at Anfield to take his tally for the season to 22 goals in all competitions.

He has also played a pivotal role in Mohamed Salah’s blistering start to life on Merseyside and continues to enjoy good line-up play with Sadio Mane.

Eyebrows were often raised when Jurgen Klopp began using Firmino as Liverpool’s leading attacker as he was often seen as a second striker.

But the Brazil international has proved he is one of Europe’s most feared forwards under Klopp’s stewardship for his tenacious effort to close down defenders from the front as well being a clinical finisher.

And the Daily Mail claim Liverpool are ready to offer him a fresh deal as reward for his efforts.

It is said the Reds are confident there will not be any hassle in agreeing terms on a new contract.

Firmino is clearly very popular in the Liverpool dressing room as well, with Trent Alexander-Arnold giving a glowing report of his team-mate.

'I think he's definitely underrated in terms of the recognition that he gets,” Alexander-Arnold said.

“I think he links the whole team together. He links the front three together, especially.

''

'He always plays a part. If you watch him closely, his drive and enthusiasm to get back and defend as a No 9 is incredible.

'Most of the time you see him past the halfway line, tracking back and making tackles. Sometimes he overdoes it, but in a good way. I suppose he doesn't have to do it, but he's willing to do it for the team.

'You don't really see that from an all-round No. 9. It just shows his hunger to win. I think that's a big part of it.

'He is priceless to us. He scores goals, he creates chances and he gets assists. There's not much more you want from a No 9.'
