Lionel Messi names the two best clubs in the world

Lionel Messi has claimed that PSG and Manchester City have closed the gap on Barcelona. He believes the transfer market has helped them drastically and they are a threat to every big club now.

However, the Argentine feels that Barcelona and Real Madrid remain the two biggest clubs in world football. Messi hinted that the big spending of the oil-rich clubs is ruining the game.

He took a cheeky swipe at Manchester City and PSG by saying, “There are clubs now with a lot of money and players move for that reason,” Messi was talking to Catalunya radio when he made the big claims.

The Argentine feels that the natural pull of big club has reduced now as the players are now heading to clubs that pay them more. “Wherever the most money is, that is where they end up going,' said Messi.

He took a swipe against at the oil-rich clubs by claiming that they are a threat for the Champions League title despite not having any history in the competition. “Things have changed, and now the owners of clubs are multi-millionaires. Before everyone wanted to play for Barca or Madrid, who were the best, but now everything is tighter, and there’s not much of a difference between the teams in Manchester, PSG, Madrid, us, Bayern [Munich], the Italians.” said the Barcelona forward.

The interview also saw Messi talking about Cristiano Ronaldo and Juventus. The Barcelona star revealed that he was shocked to see the Real Madrid leave Bernabeu this summer as he did not think that would ever happen.

Despite Ronaldo leaving, Messi does not see Madrid as a weakened side and reckons that they are still one of the best in the world. However, he made Juventus the clear favourites for the Champions League title as they have Ronaldo now.
