Leroy Sane feels Chelsea will be Manchester City’s biggest threat for the Premier League title
- Updated: July 25, 2018
Manchester City star Leroy Sane recently stated that Chelsea will be the biggest obstacle in their title defence. He believes that they will challenge the Cityzens to the largest possible extent due to the presence of a fantastic manager. He highlighted the same idea while speaking to Sky Sports, “I think Chelsea because they have brought a really good coach.”
Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City ran away with the Premier League trophy, winning it by 19 points and smashing records that came their way. They beat Chelsea’s recent record of 30 wins in a single Pl season and also collected 100 points. Deployed down the left flank, Leroy Sane was an integral part of the line-up. In total, he chipped in with 11 goals and 15 assists.
Defending a Premier League title is one of the toughest tasks to complete in European football. Although they can be tipped as favourites to win it again, one simply cannot rule out the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea out of the title race.
At West London, Roman Abramovich sacked Conte and replaced him with Sarri, who is widely known for his expansive, free-flowing and explosive football. Although he has a mammoth task on his hands to revitalize the Blues squad, it is expected that they will challenge for the domestic title under Sarri.
“If you have seen how Napoli played last season, it was really, really attractive and really good. We really suffered against them. They will need some time to get really used to his tactics. They could be really tough,” the 22-year-old added.
According to Sane, Liverpool too have a good chance of winning the league due to their successful transfer window so far.
Manchester City begin their title defence against Unai Emery’s Arsenal while Chelsea travel to Huddersfield Town.
