Kane is not a machine, says Lamela

Erik Lamela insists Tottenham Hotspur must ease the goal-scoring burden off Harry Kane, as he is ‘not a machine.’ The winger called for ruthlessness and a killer instinct from his fellow forwards after his side’s defeat at the hands of Inter Milan.

After thumping Manchester United, Spurs succumbed to two losses versus Watford and Liverpool in the league. In their Champions League opener, the North London outfit failed to take their chances and add to their one-goal lead. Unfortunately for them, two late goals from Mauro Icardi and Matias Vecino meant that Pochettino is now without a point in his last three games.

While Lamela and Eriksen had one good chance, Kane too missed a clear-cut opportunity to get on the scoresheet. The sharpshooter has now gone five games without a goal, for club and country.  However, the England skipper’s teammate supported his cause.

“Harry is not a machine,” Lamela said. “He scores a lot. Against Inter, he didn’t and for a few games now, he didn’t. But he will score again and it’s not like Harry needs to score in every single game. Against Inter, Christian [Eriksen] scored; I scored in the previous game against Liverpool; [Heung-min] Son will score; Lucas [Moura] will score. All the pressure is not on Harry. All the attacking players need to score.”

'I don't think we're losing our confidence. We believe in each other in this team,” he continued, when asked if the team’s morale is taking a hit due to recent results. 'That's why we always fight until the end of the season. Of course, now you're thinking like this. But inside the dressing room, I can tell you it's not like this,” he added.

The 26-year-old accepted that Spurs were utterly disappointed with the result, as they had targeted all three points.

The Lilywhites will want to get back to winning ways when they travel to Brighton over the weekend.
