Kalajdžić Bundesliga Return: Eintracht Loan
- Updated: January 8, 2024
Saša Kalajdžić is set to make a return to the Bundesliga, securing a six-month loan deal with Eintracht Frankfurt from Wolverhampton Wanderers in the English Premier League. The 26-year-old striker previously showcased his prowess during his time with VfB Stuttgart from 2019 to 2022, amassing 24 goals and 12 assists in 60 competitive appearances. Kalajdžić’s standout performance came in the 2020/21 season, where he netted an impressive 16 goals in 51 Bundesliga outings.
Despite facing setbacks due to a recurring cruciate ligament injury, Kalajdžić managed to contribute three goals and one assist in 13 games during the first half of the 2023/24 season with Wolverhampton, including three starts and a substitute appearance for Austria in their 2-0 friendly win over Germany in November.
Having struggled with limited playing time at Wolverhampton last season, the towering 6’6″ centre-forward aims to revitalize his career in the Bundesliga with Eintracht Frankfurt. He is expected to debut for the Eagles on January 13, potentially filling the void left by Omar Marmoush, Eintracht’s top scorer who is currently participating in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations with Egypt.
Eintracht Frankfurt’s sports director, Markus Krösche, expressed confidence in Kalajdžić’s ability to make an immediate impact. Krösche noted that the striker’s style of play, characterized by strength, positional awareness, and heading skills, will bring a new dimension to the team’s game. With his Bundesliga experience and proven track record, Kalajdžić is seen as a valuable addition to Eintracht’s squad.
Kalajdžić’s loan move not only marks his return to familiar territory in the Bundesliga but also provides him with an opportunity to showcase his talents on the domestic stage once again. The Austrian international, who has earned 19 caps at the senior level, will be vying for a spot in Austria’s squad for the UEFA Euro 2024 finals in Germany.
As Kalajdžić embarks on this new chapter with Eintracht Frankfurt, the club and fans alike are optimistic about the positive impact he can make during his loan stint. His presence is anticipated to bolster the team’s attacking prowess and add a dynamic element to their gameplay. The Bundesliga awaits the return of Saša Kalajdžić, and his performances in the coming months will be closely watched by football enthusiasts eager to see the striker reclaim his position as a formidable force in German football.
