Juventus swoop in for Madrid star after Lopetegui rift

The world found itself in a state of shock when Cristiano Ronaldo’s deal to Juventus was announced. After all, the idea of Real Madrid letting go of its greatest scorer wasn’t something many had imagined.

However, not only did it happen but Juventus are plotting a move for another Real Madrid superstar – and this time it is none other than Ronaldo’s best friend at Madrid, Marcelo.

The Brazilian was initially touted to follow the Portuguese to Turin but the deal never happened and the Serie A window closed. However, the rumours of the Real Madrid left-back joining the Italian champions are back again.

According to Tuttosport (via Sky Sports), Marcelo doesn’t have a good relationship with the manager of Los Blancos, Julen Lopetegui. The Brazil international wasn’t happy when the former Porto boss subbed him out against Girona in their La Liga encounter.

'I was surprised by the substitution but I respect the decision of the coach, I wanted to continue because I felt 100 percent,” Marcelo said of the substitution after the conclusion of the game.

'We are on the right road and I am sure we are going to improve with each game. We played well today and we got the three points.'

As a result, Marcelo could now move to Juventus and link up with his old friend once again. This time, however, the Old Lady would be willing to add Alex Sandro in the negotiations to ease the deal to bring Marcelo to Italy.

The Brazilian full-back joined the Galacticos in 2007 and has been at the club ever since, making 456 appearances for the club. He is the second-longest serving member of the club and, as a result, is the second captain of Real Madrid.
