John Terry chooses his next destination

Former Chelsea captain John Terry is set to sign for Spartak Moscow, according to Goal. The report claims that the former Villa star is currently going through a medical ahead of his move to the Russian outfit.

Terry was linked with Manchester United a few days ago but a season-ending injury for Spartak defender Samuel Gigot means that the Moscow outfit had to approach the defender, who is currently a free agent after leaving Aston Villa.

The central defender spent the last season in the Championship with Villa but couldn’t inspire them to a promotion to the Premier League. As a result, he claimed to have “unfinished business” with the club but it seems like it is going to remain that way.

'I loved my time at Aston Villa,' he told the Daily Mail . 'I am still devastated that we didn't go up.

'The manager, players and supporters were incredible with me but I hate losing and I feel there is unfinished business there.

'Steve Bruce is a great man and with the backing of the new owners, Steve will hopefully get the club back into the Premier League.

'Don't get me wrong, if I don't play again I am content with what has been an unbelievable career, but I'm still hungry to go and play if everything around it is right. If it's right for me and my family.'

The Englishman had also been linked with a move to Portugal with Sporting in the fray, with their presidential candidate claiming that an agreement between the two parties had been reached.

However, it seems as though Terry’s next destination will be in the land of Vladimir Putin.
