Isco to Man Utd: Real Madrid transfer could happen after stunning Paul Pogba development
- Updated: February 26, 2018
MANCHESTER UNITED have decided to sell Paul Pogba and are hellbent on beating Manchester City to the signing of Real Madrid ace Isco, according to reports.
Pogba starred as Manchester United beat Chelsea 2-1 at Old Trafford yesterday with the France international stepping up after being benched for the goalless Champions League draw with Sevilla last week.
His relationship with manager Jose Mourinho, however, remains in a poor way with the 54-year-old reportedly eying replacements.
And Spanish outlet Diario Gol claim Manchester United have decided to let their £89million man go when the transfer window reopens in the summer.
Pogba has emerged as a potential target for La Liga giants Real Madrid.
Los Blancos are likely to embark on a summer spending spree regardless of if they win the Champions League for the third consecutive year.
Zinedine Zidane’s side have toiled in the league with Barcelona destined to lift that trophy.
Pogba’s arrival, however, could see Isco depart.
The Spain international impressed last season but has found game time tough to come by so far this campaign.
Toni Kroos, Luka Modric and Casemiro are often preferred to pull the strings in the middle of the park.
And Diario Gol claim United are determined to make Isco their replacement for Pogba.
The former Malaga star, though, is also wanted across town with Pep Guardiola keen to bring him to Manchester City.
But Mourinho has supposedly told the Red Devils board to double whatever City offer Isco.
Whether he jumps ship to Old Trafford or the Etihad Stadium, though, remains to be seen.
Meanwhile, speaking earlier this month, Mourinho expressed a desire to sign a midfielder in the summer.
'We need to sign a midfield player because we are going to lose Michael Carrick,' he said.
'Of course, we need balance in the team. I told you that one or two months ago when we were speaking about the market.
“When some of you keep saying that we are going to buy that striker, that winger, that left winger, that right winger, I told you two months ago.
'You can accuse me of many, many things, but you cannot say that I lied to you.
'When I don't want to say things, I don't say. But I don't take you in other directions.
'When I told you a couple of months ago that we don't want to sign any striker or any winger and, yes, we are looking and we are going to try to sign a midfield player, I told you that two months ago.'
