‘I am one of the greatest’ – Jose Mourinho

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has come out to defend himself as one of the best managers in the world. The former Real Madrid manager is under a lot of scrutinies after his Manchester United team lost the last two games in a row.

As a result, criticism of the Portuguese is at its pinnacle. Amid the quagmire, the man himself has come out to defend himself. He stated that not only does he manage one of the greatest clubs in the world, he himself is one of the greatest in the football fraternity.

'I am the manager of one of the greatest clubs in the world, but I'm also one of the greatest managers in the world,' said Mourinho.

After that, the former Inter manager went on to remind the accolades that he has won in his past, before adding that his work of finishing second with Manchester United last season was also a superb achievement.

'I repeat, I have won eight titles (as a manager). I'm the only manager to win in Italy, Spain and England.

'Not small titles, proper titles, and my second (place finish with United) last season was one of my greatest achievements in football.'

While Jose Mourinho might have won two Champions League with Porto and then Inter, his records since winning the treble with the Nerazzurri hasn’t been exemplary. With only two league titles and no Champions Leagues, his records in the recent past suggest somewhat of a decline.

And now, he has started the new season quite terribly, which comes after most of his requests in the transfer market were denied by the board, and has prompted many to wonder as to whether he is the right man for the throne at the Old Trafford.
