After a stunning victory over Belgium, England has successfully defended the Arnold Clark Cup, making it three wins in a row overall.
The Lionesses, who had won 29 straight games, dominated the game at Ashton Gate and only needed a draw to win the championship.
Huge cheers were heard when captain Leah Williamson lifted the trophy, which was her third in a year. A chorus of “Sweet Caroline” then followed, which became associated with England’s victory at Euro 2022.
Williamson had an outstanding night, scoring twice as the home team controlled early on and defeated Belgium.
Chloe Kelly, a winger for Manchester City, not only scored twice but also contributed to the winning goal in the Euro 2022 championship match.
In a chaotic finish, Lucy Bronze headed in Rachel Daly’s cross and former Bristol City player Julie Biesmans deflected into her own goal to increase England’s total, while Elena Dhont’s stunning curling goal for Belgium prevented Mary Earps from keeping a clean sheet.
