Chelsea set to open talks with N’Golo Kante regarding contract extension

Chelsea have opened contract talks with N'Golo Kante according to reports. The midfielder's current contract ends only in 2021, but with growing interest from Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona, The Blues are keen on extending his stay in West London.

Le10Sport in France reports that PSG are willing to offer Kante a deal worth up to €15 million-a-year to tempt him. The contract offered will see him earn around £255,000 a week – more than double of what he currently makes at Chelsea.

Kante has arguably been Chelsea's best midfielder since joining from Leicester City in 2016. The Frenchman won the Premier League and the FA Cup with the Blues in his first two seasons and was also named as the PFA, FWA and Premier League Player of the Year at the end of their 2016/17 title-winning season.

Kante has been stunning for France as well and barring the World Cup final; he was running the show in the midfield for them as well. His performances have certainly caught the eye and now PSG have seemingly made him their ‘summer priority’ according to Le10Sport.

Daily Express claim that despite Kante having three more years left on his current Chelsea contract, the Blues want give him an improved deal owing to his brilliance on the field.

The report states that Chelsea want to tie Kante down to a new five-year contract. The new deal would see him tied down at the club until 2023 with a £200,000-per-week package.

Apart from PSG, Barcelona are also said to be interested in signing the Frenchman. The Catalan side are reportedly willing to make a 'cash + player' bid for the midfielder with Andre Gomes offered to Chelsea in return.

Chelsea have no intentions of selling him and have just signed Jorginho to partner him in the midfield this summer. With Maurizio Sarri taking over the reins this summer, the Blues are doing all they can to improve the team and get back to challenging for the Premier League title.
