Achraf sets Bundesliga speed record

The Bundesliga has stated that Real Madrid loanee Achraf Hakimi is now the fastest Bundesliga player on record. These speed recordings have been official for the league since the 2011-12 season.

Achraf initially set the record in December against Leipzig, clocking in at just under 22.5 mph (36.2 km/h). He then broke his own record in February against Union Berlin, this time recording a speed of 22.67 mph (36.5 km/h).

French newspaper Le Figaro did a study this season on the fastest players worldwide, where Kylian Mbappe topped the list at 22.37 mph (36 km/h). Achraf would now hold the top spot if the study was redone. Both Alvaro Odriozola and Nacho were on this speed list, holding the ninth and 10th spots respectively.

Achraf has really broken out this season while on loan at Borussia Dortmund. He has formed a great partnership with Raphäel Guerreiro and clearly has the offensive side of his game down.

He can still improve defensively, but his speed is a great asset that he boasts in his arsenal. Whether he serves as a true fullback or a wing back, it’s clear Achraf may be wearing white sometime soon.
