Barcelona Transfer Rumour: Messi and Suarez don’t want to team up with one world class forward
In recent seasons, the speculation linking Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann to Barcelona has grown stronger and stronger. The Frenchman has reportedly agreed to move to the Nou Camp in the summer, however, behind the scenes there has been some notable resentment to this blockbuster signing.
According to Don Balon, kingpin Lionel Messi and star striker Luis Suárez are not very keen on the club signing Griezmann. They believe the 27-year-old’s wages will cause trouble at the club, as the board will inevitably cater to his astronomical demands.
Don Balon also believe that due to this blatant resistance, the Frenchman will now seek to move elsewhere with Manchester United and Real Madrid still interested. There’s a reason why a host of clubs are interested in signing the 27-year-old, as he’s a prolific and versatile forward. Since making his professional debut for Real Sociedad, Griezmann has scored an incredible 149 goals.

This kind of firepower would undoubtedly make the Catalonians the most feared attack in Europe. Ernesto Valverde’s men won the Copa del Rey last Sunday and are now only one point away from securing the La Liga title. Despite that unprecedented success, the higher-ups at Barcelona are still looking to strengthen the squad in the summer.
Last summer’s £135.5 million signing Ousmane Dembélé has failed to impress in his first season in Spain as injury problems have ultimately hindered hisprogress. The 20-year-old has only scored two goals in 803 minutes of playing time. That’s why Antoine Griezmann’s transfer has become of even higher priority.
Alas, if Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez don’t want the Frenchman, then the transfer will certainly not go through. For Griezmann this may be heartbreaking but he can rest assured knowing he’ll still get a mega move to a club in Europe this summer.
