Barcelona Transfer Rumour: Everton table bid for Yerry Mina

Everton have tabled an offer for Barcelona's Colombian defender Yerry Mina, according to reports from Goal. Mina had a disappointing debut campaign with the Spanish giants, making just six appearances in total since his move in January.

However, his spectacular performances in the 2018 World Cup in Russia were enough to impress the Everton hierarchy, who have reportedly tabled a £21 million bid for the 23-year-old centre-back.

Mina scored three goals for Colombia in the World Cup, including a last-gasp equalizer against England in the Round of 16, where his nation fell agonizingly short in the ensuing penalty shootout.

Mina, who has a £88m release clause in his contract, moved to Barcelona for a fee in the region of £10.5m from Palmeiras in the winter transfer window, but struggled to nail down a starting spot and is looking for a move away.

The Toffees have expressed their interest and the Catalans are willing to listen to offers as long as their conditions are met – one of which is the insertion of a buy-back clause in his contract. Barcelona are keen on signing Clement Lenglet in the summer and that would indicate Mina is no longer a part of the club's plans going forward.

Barcelona and Everton have conducted deals in the past, with Gerard Deulofeu the most recent player to move between the two clubs.  According to the reports, the two clubs are slated to have another meeting the coming Monday to finalise the deal, which means that the player would be able to complete his switch by next week.

Everton have seen the likes of Funes Mori and Wayne Rooney depart this season and they are finally dipping their toes into the market themselves.

Mina would be a perfect addition to the club that conceded a whopping 58 goals last campaign, and his presence alongside Ashley Williams might be just what the Toffees need to help them make a push for a European spot next season.

Arch-rivals Liverpool have also been linked with the young Colombian but are yet to make a formal offer.
