Barcelona Star Asks To Leave Club Amidst Interest From Manchester United – Reports

Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes has reportedly requested to leave the club in the coming summer transfer window. The midfielder moved to Barcelona in the summer of 2016 from Valencia but has failed to lock down a place in the starting XI in his two season at Nou Camp.

Gomes impressed during his spell with Valencia and arrived in Barcelona on the back of some impressive performances for Portugal – leading his country to victory in the European Championship.

The midfielder will again be action in the World Cup this summer and any club interested would look to secure the services of the playmaker before he sets foot in Russia in order to avoid inflating fees.

Manchester United have recently been linked with the midfielder as they look set to replace the likes of Michael Carrick and Juan Mata in the coming summer. And if Jose Mourinho is really interested in bringing the 24-year-old to Old Trafford, he will be well advised to do it at the earliest.

Whilst Manchester United’s interest in the player has been there for quite some time, there has been no real step taken for a move to happen. That is until now.

According to a report from Birmingham Live, the wheels for a move away from Nou Camp have been set in motion by the player himself. The report suggests that the Portuguese has let the Barca hierarchy know that he would like to move away from Catalunya this coming summer and he certainly shouldn’t have any problem seeking suitors despite his two bad season with the Blaugranas.

Whilst Barcelona shelled out €35 million, plus €20 million in add-ons for Gomes a few years back, he should move for a lot less this time around – a risk that Manchester United can easily take.

Gomes might not have been able to settle down in Barcelona. However, his talent cannot be doubted and it would represent Manchester United with a low risk high reward option if he is to move to the Theatre of Dreams.
