Barcelona news: Lionel Messi drops bombshell on Andres Iniesta after Chelsea clash

BARCELONA star Lionel Messi reportedly thinks Andres Iniesta’s fine display against Chelsea proves he will still be at the club next season and has pleaded with him to stay.

Barcelona captain Iniesta shone against Chelsea with Messi getting on the scoresheet at Stamford Bridge last night.

The Spain international provided the assist for Messi’s key equalising goal, which came after Willian had fired Chelsea in front.

His outstanding performance came nine years after he controversially dumped Chelsea out of the Champions League semi-finals.

And Spanish outlet Don Balon say Messi wants Iniesta to stay after his midfield masterclass.

The playmaker’s Barcelona future has been plunged into uncertainty in recent weeks.

Barcelona spent big to prise Philippe Coutinho away from Liverpool.

Many expect the Brazil international to be Iniesta’s long-term replacement in the middle of the park.

Yet Don Balon say Messi told Iniesta after the Chelsea game that he simply has to stay.

Meanwhile, the 33-year-old thinks Barcelona will dominate in the return leg after struggling against the Blues last night.

'At home the match will be different,' Iniesta said.

“With our fans and our stadium, it will be a different game.

'We'll approach the areas with more advantages.

'It will be difficult game because they'll give their all, like we will.

'Chelsea are one of the best teams in Europe and in the Champions League anything can cost you a lot.'
